Linkin Park has officially named Emily Armstrong from the band Dead Sara as their new lead singer.
The announcement was made during a live performance event on Thursday. Additionally, Colin Brittain, known for his work with G Flip, Illenium, and One OK Rock, will join the band as their new drummer.
This news comes alongside the release of Linkin Park’s new single, “The Emptiness Machine.”
This track marks their first new music in seven years and serves as the lead single for their upcoming album, “From Zero,” set to release on November 15 through Warner Records. This album will be their first full-length project since “One More Light,” which was released two months before Chester Bennington, their former lead vocalist, passed away.
The revamped lineup of Linkin Park, which now includes Mike Shinoda, Brad Delson, Phoenix, Joe Hahn, Emily Armstrong, and Colin Brittain, will soon hit the road.
They are set to embark on a six-date arena tour that will take them to major cities such as Los Angeles, New York, Hamburg, London, Seoul, and Bogota. A complete tour routing is provided below.
On Thursday, Linkin Park performed together for the first time in Los Angeles. Fans attended the event via shuttle buses to a studio lot, where the performance was livestreamed. The livestream will be accessible on Linkin Park’s official online channels for the next 24 hours.
According to a press release, Shinoda, Delson, Farrell, and Hahn began reconnecting in recent years. Instead of simply attempting to restart the band, they collaborated with various musicians and found a unique synergy with Armstrong and Brittain.
Shinoda commented on the new phase of the band, stating, “Before Linkin Park, our first band name was Xero.
The album title ‘From Zero’ reflects both our early beginnings and our current journey. It represents our past, present, and future. We embrace our signature sound while infusing it with new energy. This project is a testament to our appreciation for our new and long-time bandmates, friends, family, and fans. We are proud of our evolution and eager for what lies ahead.”
“The Emptiness Machine” is designed to capture the essence of Linkin Park’s unique sound.
Shinoda expressed that the band feels invigorated with this new lineup and the vibrant music they’ve created together. He added that they are blending familiar sonic elements with fresh, innovative touches.
Pre-sale tickets for the “From Zero” tour will be available to LP Underground fan club members starting September 6. General ticket sales will open the following day, September 7.
This announcement follows the release of Linkin Park’s “Papercuts (Singles Collection 2000-2023)” earlier this spring.
This 20-song collection features the band’s greatest hits from over two decades. Released through Warner Records, the compilation includes popular tracks like “In the End,” “Burn It Down,” and the Jay-Z mash-up “Numb/Encore,” as well as “Lost,” which helped the album “Meteora” climb back into the Billboard 200 top 10.
