Queen Charlotte, The Newest Installment in the Bridgerton Historical Romance Dramas Gain 93% on Rotten Tomatoes

The story of Queen Charlotte, a prequel to the hit Bridgerton series just dropped and our eyes are wet with unshed tears! Spoilers ahead!

Just hours after its release, the new side story to Bridgerton already gained a 93% rating on Rotten Tomatoes. The series tells the story of the beloved elders of the ton like Lady Danbury and Lady Violet Bridgerton. It also shows us a glimpse of why the Queen in the franchise seemed to be the reigning monarch instead of King George.

Queen Charlotte tells a heartwarming story of emigrating to a strange country for marriage and the struggles the young Queen faces. From racism, a changing society, and mental illness, Netflix didn’t shy away from difficult topics of conversation on this one.

The queen in Bridgerton became a beloved character for her straightforward attitude and her relentlessness in making sure the people she chose would succeed in life and marriage. India Amarteifio who plays the young queen in this new installment, perfectly matches Golda Rosheuvel’s performance from the earlier episodes.

A younger Lady Danbury played by Arsema Thomas has also stepped up and completely conquered the character. In fact, the whole casting definitely holds a candle to their older counterparts and lets the audience transition between timelines seamlessly.

The 93% rating on Rotten Tomatoes is definitely justified. This is another must-watch for fans of historical romance and period dramas.
